I just completed work with a new guitar, which I made in cooperation with my son Kaarel. It has German spruce top and back made of padouk. Actually, I do not understand, why guitar makers use this kind of wood so rarely. It,s carrot-like color simply puts smile on your face and it sounds like… French wine – light and fruity. It has all best sound qualities that we are used to value, when looking for a new concert guitar. Headstock is designed by Kaarel himself. Neck is made of Canadian maple.

Here some pictures of our new guitar. It is simply cute!

In September a new CD was released with my cedar top guitar. Guitarist Kristo Käo explains it as following:

“Too many guitar recordings are polished in studios for months and are nearly perfect in many ways – put together from hundreds of takes, resulting no mistakes, superb sound and so on. But sometimes I feel that the more you polish the greater is the chance to wash out some essential things in music – the human feelings and the soul of the music itself. Music on this disc is not the one that would fit to a concert hall. That’s my opinion and with this CD I’d like to thank the people who keep organizing live-music events and jam sessions. Keep going!”

See Kristo Käo playing on my guitar:
